Which filament for…

Phone or tablet stand

A desk stand that gets bumped, plugged into, and carried around.

  • Functional parts
  • First-time friendly

Best pick

  • A stand takes small knocks and constant handling, so a toughened PLA is the sweet spot: stiff enough to hold the device, less likely to snap at the thin back support than plain PLA.
  • Plain PLA works fine if it lives on a desk.
  • Choose PETG if it will get warm, such as on a car dashboard.
  • Skip silk: its weak layers crack at the hinge point.
