Ratings are relative, 1-5, for a typical filament of this type. Start from your filament maker's recommended settings.

Use it for

  • Prints that will be looked at up close: figurines, planters, desk accessories, and parts you plan to paint.
  • It softens the look of layer lines and does not reflect harsh highlights.

Watch out for

  • Layer bonding is often weaker than standard PLA. Users report parts separating along layer lines across several brands, and the matting particles are the likely cause. It is not stronger or more heat-resistant than basic PLA.
  • Avoid thin snap-fits and anything load-bearing; use PLA+ or PETG there.

Tips

  • Print a little hotter and slower, with reduced part cooling, to narrow the strength gap (it will not fully close).
  • Darker colors give the most convincing matte look.
