Ratings are relative, 1-5, for a typical filament of this type. Start from your filament maker's recommended settings.

Use it for

  • You need a part that does not flex: camera and tripod mounts, jigs and fixtures, drone and RC frames, brackets that must stay straight.
  • The fibers make it very stiff and give a clean matte finish that hides layer lines.

Watch out for

  • Stiff does not mean tough. It is brittle and can snap under sharp impacts.
  • It chews through brass nozzles in a few spools. Use hardened steel.
  • Heat resistance is only slightly better than normal PLA.

Tips

  • Print a little hotter than plain PLA and dry the spool first.
  • Wear a dust mask when sanding; carbon fiber dust is not something to breathe.
